In Bassano Del Grappa, Italy one summer I enjoyed picking cherries at the home of my husband's close friend in Italy Gabriella D'Orio and Carlo Spigorola. The backyard of their Italian villa was filled with cherry trees. Gabriella was the gold metal winner of the Los Angeles Olympics and her homemade cherry pie was the recipe of a champion!
